Vinted Members Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
