The European Union might “act quickly and firmly” in response to what it calls “unjustified” travel bans imposed by the United States against five European individuals involved in combating online hate and misinformation, an EU official has said.
EU Officials Condemn US Action as ‘Intimidation’
Officials from Europe such as Emmanuel Macron charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, following the travel bans targeted individuals that were at the heart of efforts to introduce laws regulating American tech companies.
“For too long, European activists have led coordinated campaigns to coerce American platforms to punish US perspectives they disagree with,” stated a senior US official online. “This government will not stand for such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
